Purpose To advocate and serve by promoting the health and safety of the public. Services Disease Prevention We engage in surveillance, investigation, and follow-up of reportable communicable diseases to protect the health of the community by contact tracing, immunizations, and monitoring outbreaks with physicians, hospitals, and labs. Emergency Preparedness We support and enhance the capacity of the health care system to prepare for public health threats and emergencies through all-hazard-disaster planning and responding to emergencies. Environmental Health We protect the community against environmental health hazards through food safety inspections, public well inspection and testing, public beach water quality monitoring, and home radon test kits. Health Strategy We lead the design and publication of the Community Health Improvement Plan, a document that defines the top health priorities in our communities. We facilitate community coalitions that address key health issues with the goal of improving the health and wellness of residents. Maternal & Child Health We serve as a resource to help families through various transitions across the lifespan. We partner with community groups to address barriers to maternal and child health. WIC Program We help eligible pregnant women, mothers, infants, and children up to age five learn about nutrition. WIC is a supplemental nutrition program that can help families buy foods that promote good health, growth, and development.
